I know what you mean. My friend is a counselor at a private school and she is always getting some nice gifts. I get a little jealous but I always have to remind myself that there is a bigger reward waiting for me later on.
I know! Sad isn’t, it? Oh well, that’s not why I went into teaching and I remind myself that these kids need me even more! Still, kinda sucks though!
Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a holiday bonus for teachers in Title I schools? Of course, I think teachers in Title I schools should be getting a bonus, PERIOD.
You know I was talking to another teacher and she said her daughter who works in corporate America gets a bonus for Christmas that is almost the amount of our yearly salary. Is that the craziest thing? I also agree that teachers in Title 1 schools should get a bonus.
Well my Title 1 school gets a “bonus” – $200 (well, I haven’t gotten it yet, so we’ll see) but they build it into our salary. They just save some of our money to give to us now. And it ends up less – still have to pay taxes on it! So technically, it’s my money they set aside for me to have at Christmas. Nice of them to save my money for me.
