Shannon McLeod

Shannon is an elementary school teacher from the Prairie provinces of Canada. She has been teaching since 2007 in a variety of grade levels from Kindergarten to 8th grade. Early in her career, Shannon discovered the amazing benefits of outdoor learning for both herself and her students. As a result, she has made it a priority to get her students outside everyday. In order to encourage other teachers to get outside with their students, Shannon has created the website Thrivewithoutdoorlearning.com to provide information and activities related to taking your class outdoors. The goal of the website is to try to remove as many barriers to outdoor learning as possible and make it easy to get outside and thrive. Shannon's passion for the outdoors extends to her personal life as well. As a mom to a 3-year-old, Shannon tries to get outside as much as possible with her family. Together her family enjoys camping, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, and traveling.
