Angela Watson
Angela Watson is a National Board Certified Teacher with a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She has 11 years of classroom experience and over a decade of experience as an instructional coach.
Angela created this website as a young teacher in 2003 to share practical classroom ideas and help other educators build a positive mindset so they can truly enjoy their work. It was originally called “Ms. Powell’s Management Ideas for Teachers” until 2008, when it was renamed “The Cornerstone for Teachers” after her first book.
Rebranded in November 2021 to Truth for Teachers, the site now impacts over 8 million educators annually.
Angela’s ideas have been featured in thousands of magazine articles, newsletters, and internet resources, and utilized in teacher preparation and support programs throughout the nation. She has authored numerous printable curriculum resources, online courses, and six books. Her newest book is the second edition of “Awakened: Change Your Mindset to Transform Your Teaching,” which was released in November 2022.
She is perhaps best known for her free Truth for Teachers podcast, which provides bi-weekly encouragement for educators and consistently ranks in the top K-12 podcasts in the world.
Angela’s professional development on productivity is being used in over 45,000 schools through the 40 Hour Workweek program. First designed for teachers and then expanded to instructional coaches and administrators, 40 Hour helps educators become more intentional with their personal, contractual, and instructional time so they can focus on what really matters.
Angela’s mission is to help teachers live a more purposeful and conscious life. Through her mentorship, countless teachers have learned to take charge of their time and energy so they can prevent burnout and stay in the profession they love for years to come.
1999
Graduated college and landed her first teaching job in Prince George’s County, MD
2002
Earned her master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction
2003
Created the first iteration of this website, called Ms. Powell’s Management Ideas for Teachers
2004
Moved to South Florida; continued teaching and sharing teaching ideas online
2006
Obtained National Board Certification as an Early Childhood Generalist
2008
Published her first book, The Cornerstone, and changed the name of this site to The Cornerstone for Teachers; began doing professional development/teacher training in schools
2009
Founded Due Season Press and Educational Services and republished The Cornerstone under her own publishing company; began work in NYC schools and nationwide as an instructional coach
2010
Created an online behavior management training for her book The Cornerstone
2011
Published her second book, Awakened
2012
Published her third book, The Awakened Devotional Study Guide, and began speaking professionally about her books
2013
Started creating and selling curriculum resources on TeachersPayTeachers
2014
Created more curriculum materials, as well as 2 online courses for teacherpreneurs; started the TruthForTeachers podcast
2015
Published her fourth book, Unshakeable; created the Teacher Style t-shirt store; beta launched the 40 Hour Teacher Workweek Club
2016
Official launch of the 40HTW Club; over 10,000 teachers participated in this year alone
2017
Official launch of the new website design; continuing to do instructional coaching, speaking, blogging, podcasting, curriculum and course creation, and supporting 40 Hour Club Members
2018
Created The Teacher Lifestyle Lab, a collection of min-courses to help teachers experiment with habits and live a more purposeful, conscious life
2019
Published her 5th book "Fewer Things, Better: The Courage to Focus on What Matters Most" and created the accompanying courses
2020
Launched a 40 Hour Fast Track program for teachers, followed by 40 Hour Instructional Coaching and 40 Hour Leadership for administrators
2021
Rebranded the main website from The Cornerstone for Teachers to Truth for Teachers, hiring a writers collective to center the voices of classroom practitioners
2022
Released the second edition of "Awakened: Change Your Mindset to Transform Your Teaching."
2023
Created the first FREE online event designed to save teachers time, featuring 15-20 minute presentations from 40 Hour members who are current classroom teahcers.
2024
COMING THIS SUMMER: The new 40 Hour AI program to help teachers use artificial intelligence to streamline their workload.
