Join us for a two morning virtual professional development training for K-12 teachers on July 13-14, 2026.
“he question I keep hearing from educators isn’t ‘How do I use AI?’
It’s ‘Should I? How much? What does it mean for my students if I let them use it too? “
Those are harder questions, and they don’t get answered in a typical AI training.
They get answered when you have the time, the space, and a real framework to figure out where you actually stand.
That’s what Stay Human is designed to do.

What is Stay Human?
Stay Human: Finding Your Ethical Stance on AI as an Educator is a two-day virtual professional development training running on the mornings of July 13th and 14th, 2026.
Sessions run from 10am to 12:30pm Eastern both days, so you’re done by lunch with time in between to let the ideas settle before we pick back up the next morning.
This is not a training that will tell you AI is good or bad, or push you toward using it more or less. It’s a training that helps you get clear on your own values so you can make consistent, confident decisions about AI in your teaching, rather than just reacting every time something new drops and the pressure ramps up again.
Who is this for?
Stay Human is for PreK-16 teachers who:
- Feel pulled in every direction on AI, pressure from admin to embrace it, unease about what it’s doing to student thinking, and no clear framework for making decisions
- Have a gut feeling that something about AI in the classroom isn’t quite right but can’t fully articulate what
- Want to make intentional choices about AI that align with their values and their teaching philosophy, not just their district’s mandates
- Are tired of sitting out the conversation because they don’t know where they stand
You don’t need to be a tech skeptic or an AI enthusiast to get value from this. The training is designed to be genuinely useful for teachers across the full spectrum, from those who use AI constantly to those who haven’t touched it.
What we cover
Day One: You as a Teacher
The first morning is about your own relationship with AI. We’ll work through what your core teaching values actually are, how AI use does or doesn’t align with them, and how to make decisions you can feel good about when the next tool, mandate, or controversy comes along. You’ll leave day one with a personal AI philosophy that’s grounded in what actually matters to you, not just what’s convenient or what everyone else is doing.
Day Two: Your Students
The second morning shifts to your classroom. We’ll look at what the learning science actually tells us about AI and student cognition, what it means for skill development, and how to talk with students about AI in ways that build genuine literacy rather than just rule-following. You’ll also get two ready-to-use student mini-units on AI literacy that you can bring straight into your classroom.
What you’ll walk away with
- A personal AI philosophy grounded in your own values
- A classroom AI policy aligned to both your district’s mandates and your teaching philosophy
- Two ready-to-use student mini-units on AI literacy and ethics
- Up to 7 hours of professional development credit
- Access to all recordings so you can rewatch or catch up at your convenience
Format and logistics
Stay Human runs live on Riverside, with a mix of direct teaching, discussion, and reflection time. There are no breakout rooms, but there are interactive components and opportunities to engage with other participants throughout both sessions. The format is designed for multiple learning styles, so whether you process best by listening, writing, or talking things through, there’s space for you.
Sessions run 10am to 12:30pm Eastern on Monday, July 13th and Tuesday, July 14th.
Recordings are included in the price, so even if something comes up, you won’t lose access to the content.
Pricing and registration
Early bird pricing of $47 is available through July 8th. After that, registration is $97.
If you’re already a member of 40 Hour AI, Stay Human is included in your membership at no additional charge.
A note on where I stand
I want to be upfront about something: I use AI. I also have real reservations about it that I haven’t fully resolved. I think that’s true for a lot of teachers right now, and I think the discomfort is worth taking seriously rather than either dismissing it or letting it paralyze you.
Stay Human isn’t built around any particular conclusion about AI. It’s built around the belief that teachers deserve the time and the framework to reach their own conclusions, and that those conclusions will be better, more consistent, and more defensible when they’re grounded in something deeper than reaction.
That’s the conversation I want to have with you on July 13th and 14th. I hope you’ll join me.
